Sweet Chilli Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:
For the Chicken:

500g (1 lb) chicken breast or thigh, cut into bite-sized pieces

2 tbsp cornstarch
-
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
-
1 egg (optional, for binding)
-
1/2 tsp garlic powder
-
Salt & pepper to taste

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
For the Sweet Chilli Sauce:

1/2 cup sweet chilli sauce (store-bought or homemade)
-
2 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
-
1 tbsp rice vinegar or lemon juice
-
1 tsp grated garlic (optional for extra flavor)
-
1 tsp grated ginger (optional)
Optional Garnish:

Sesame seeds
-
Spring onions, chopped

Red chilli slices
🔪 Instructions:

Prepare the Chicken:

In a bowl, combine chicken pieces with cornstarch, flour, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and egg (if using). Mix well to coat evenly.

Fry the Chicken:

Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 4-5 mins per batch).

Drain on paper towels.

Make the Sauce:

In a separate pan or wok, combine sweet chilli sauce, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, and ginger.

Heat over medium heat until it starts to bubble and slightly thicken (2-3 minutes).

Toss Chicken in Sauce:

Add the crispy chicken to the pan and toss to coat well in the sauce.

Serve:

Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions. Serve hot with rice or noodles.
